"The leading ladies of the New School", Emma Nyra, Cynthia Morgan and Victoria Kimani have all teamed up together as they kick off 2015 with the release of their new song ‘Vex’.
Emma Nyra's powerful vocals combined with Victoria Kimani's sultry, raspy voice and Cynthia's signature ragga tone, creates something totally different and special, setting them apart from what's being delivered in the African music scene at the moment. And I think I like it!
The 808 heavy, sexy record is produced by Kenyan Grammy award winning producer, DOSpeaks of Track Or Die, and sees the girls sample lyrics from Jon B's 1997 platinum selling single, ‘They Don't Know’.
Emma, Victoria and Cynthia display their diversity on the relatable ladies anthem, an unexpected release from them, that we've welcomed with open arms.
Emma Nyra stands out on this song for me. It's about time we heard her robust vocals on a track, and hopefully in 2015 we'll see her belt out more records where her vocals are put on full display. But, let us not overlook Victoria Kimani's sweet and sultry sound which dominates the hook.
Take a listen to ‘Vex’ below and let me know your thoughts on the new ladies anthem. All that's needed now is a music video.
