Africa's Biggest Festival ‘Gidi Festival’ Returns! Davido, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade to Headline

Africa's biggest festival ‘Gidi Festival’ returns for its third year. The annual festival bought to you by Eclipse Live Africa is a one-day beach festival with day activities ranging from beach sports headed by celebrity team captains, to tasting the very best of African dishes at the food court, and of course live music from some of Africa's best artists.

Held at Eko Atlantic Beach in Lagos, Nigeria ‘Gidi Festival’ has seen acts from across the African continent hit the stage including: Ice Prince, Burna Boy, Falz from Nigeria, Tanzania's Vanessa Mdee, Kenya's Victoria Kimani and Ghana's EL and Efya to mention.

The third edition is projected to clock in 8,000 festival goers whilst the previous years have seen an attendance of 3,500 (2014) and 5,000 (2015) attendees.

Speaking on the third edition of ‘Gidi Festival’, founder Chin Okeke says, “we are really excited to be back this year, having learned a lot from previous editions. We genuinely feel this one is going to put us on the global festival map and show the world that Lagos is the continent's melting pot for music and culture.” He went on to say, “it's about curating an experience for our people so there are some exciting upgrades that will surprise our guests!”

New Video: Seyi Shay - Mary ft. Phyno

Seyi Shay released her highly anticipated debut LP ‘Seyi or Shay’ last year. The album has received critical acclaim with many hailing the songstress for her stunning vocals, diversity, lyrics and production. And all round musical direction.

‘Mary’ is the first video since the release of her album, and features rapper Phyno. The song has an Afro-Trap tune and sees Seyi Shay serenade listeners with her amazing vocals, whilst Phyno delivers playful lyrics which suit the occasion perfectly adding more colour to the anticipated club banger.

The video, dark and grungy, has a brilliant use of lights and effects and perfectly reflects the sound of the song, directed by Meji Alabi for JM Films.

Seyi Shay went on to explain the concept behind the song “the song Mary was inspired by a friend of mine who always attracted major attention from everybody whenever they would enter a party, or dance floor, because of her bold personality and funky outfits.”

‘Mary’ was produced by Otee Beats and co-written by Phame and Jade. This is the first in the series of music videos to come from Seyi Shay off her ‘Seyi or Shay’ album.

New Music: Leriq - Turn Up ft. Burna Boy & Phyno

Slowing it down for us a bit more, Leriq has unveiled his second single ‘Turn Up’. The Aristokrat Records producer features label mate - Burna Boy, and rapper Phyno on the self-produced joint. 

‘Turn Up’ comes shortly after Leriq dropped the video to his debut single ‘Comment Tu T'appelle’ back in May, which has already been getting major airplay on radio stations across Africa and internationally. 

Another smash under his belt and a well produced song, not long left before Leriq releases his debut album full of back to back hits.

New Music: Wizkid - ‘Bombay’ ft. Phyno + ‘Joy’

Wizkid has finally quenched the thirst of his fans with two brand new singles ‘Bombay’ and ‘Joy’ featuring rapper - Phyno. Both tracks produced by Dokta Frabz are already making it's rounds online and on airwaves since it's release earlier today.

Fans got to hear a preview of ‘Joy’ on BBC Radio 1Xtra's Destination Africa live lounge back in Nigeria earlier this year, and can be watched here.

No word on if ‘Bombay’ and ‘Joy’ will appear on his LONG awaited sophomore album, neither has there been any confirmation date for the album release. 

Wizkid took to his twitter account to announce that he'll be releasing a song every week until the year ends - not sure if Wiz will stick to his word on that one, but we're glad to finally hear some new music from the Starboy!

The video which was shot in Abakpa Nike, Enugu features cameo appearance by Ill Bliss with amazing video effects crowned with a masterful performance by Phyno, who is unfoubtedly the Man Of The Year!

New Video: Ayoola - Ochanya ft. Phyno

MTN Project Fame season five winner Ayoola drops the video to ‘Ochanya’. Ayoola is currently managed by Goretti Company and calls on heavy-hitter Phyno to drop a verse on this sultry song. The cut was directed by Clarence Peters and reminds me of something similar to Robin Thicke's ‘Blurred Lines’.

New Music: Chidinma - "Bless My Hustle" ft. Phyno + "Kite" + "Jollie"

Before I start this blog post, doesn't Chidinma look stunning in the single artwork? 

Three back to back singles from the ever so talented and multiple award winning Chidinma. "Bless My Hustle" featuring Phyno, "Kite" and "Jollie" are three bangers from the MTN Project Fame winner - with "Bless My Hustle" currently being my favourite.

The remix to Ms. Kedike's single "Emi Ni Baller" featuring the Starboy Wizkid is still one of the many hugely buzzed songs of the year. Chidinma and her label mates Tha Suspect and Illbliss were all recently in the UK to shoot the new video to the original version to "Emi Ni Baller" which premieres this Thursday and was directed by the label boss and genius - Clarence Peters.

Don't sleep on Chidinma, there's more to come from the superstar!

I love this song too much from Tillaman especially the remix featuring Burna Boy, Iyanya, Phyno, Trigga and Ice Prince.

They kept the video nice and clean for us, with all the guys featured on the song appearing in the video who are all swagged out from head to toe. A couple of females and nice cars are also in the car. Not much to say but this song is a jaaaaaam and it was produced by Legundary Beats (who are now signed to Wizkid's 'Star Boy') Jor o!

Okay, I'm like a week behind blogging this - but I really like this remix.
Tillaman brings together Burna Boy, Iyanya, Ice Prince, Phyno and Trigga Madtonic for the remix to his hit Afrobeat club single 'Koma Roll'.

The original music video has been banned on NBC in Nigeria (is there a music video that they don't ban on that channel - but shown on every other channel) - hopefully Tillaman will make a remix video?.. I'm sure that will be fun!
