New Music: Kyra - Ell Oh Vee Eeh

Taken from her forthcoming debut 4-track-EP ‘Bandages’, ‘Ell Oh Vee Eeh’ is an energetic record that shows Kyra's vocal and lyrical growth since her 2012 debut ‘Good Love’.

Not shying away from the fact that she's in love on ‘Ell Oh Vee Eeh’, Kyra sings about a love that takes her to the sky and where she lives among the galaxies; an exciting kind of love, a real love.

New Music: Kendrick Lamar - i

And he's baaaaack!!

Seyi Shay Releases New Track ‘Because We Care’ for Genevieve Magazine's Pink Ball

Let's take a moment to appreciate Seyi Shay's beauty and her accomplishments this year alone.

The singer-songwriter has become the first ambassador the the Genevieve Pink Ball foundation, a foundation that supports the prevention and treatment of breast cancer.

Set to touch lives through her music with ‘Because We Care’, Seyi Shay penned the new song for the Genevieve Pink Ball foundation, with her interest in the foundation being inspired by a personal experience. Produced by London Boyz, the song was composed to give hope and courage to breast cancer patients.

Speaking on the Genevieve Pink Ball foundation, Seyi Shay said "To me, Genevieve pink ball means saving a multitude of lives from a fatal disease called breast cancer through love awareness and support. I made this song in support of the foundation." She went onto say "It's basically a prayer and I'm letting people know that we care and no matter what the circumstance is, we can be survivors and celebrate if we come together and support one another. Not letting or anything take away our happiness."

The lyrics to ‘Because We Care’ lets breast cancer patients know that they're not alone in the battle they're facing, Seyi sends out a positive message to patients, by singing:
"Because we care, anywhere you go baby I go follow you there
And no need to worry when you call me, I go hear.
No sickness and no disease it will never come near, amin"

Seyi Shay clearly pours her heart out on this one, from the lyrics to the beat - ‘Because We Care’ is sure to put a smile on ones face the second they press play on the song below! Enjoy!

More info on the Genevieve Pink Ball Foundation seen below. The event is set to hold on the 18th of October, 2014 at The Dorchester in Victoria Island, Lagos - Nigeria (http://www.genevieveng.com/)
The mission of this year’s Genevieve Pink Ball event is to treat over 100 affected patients under an initiative called 'Adopt a Patient' where interested individuals provide financial support towards the treatment of breast cancer patients through the purchasing of tables at our event or through private donations.

New Video: Wizkid - In My Bed

After pulling a BeyoncĂ© on us by dropping his album unexpectedly last Wednesday, Wizkid has revealed the first video since his album release ‘In My Bed’

The album which has been sitting at number 1 on the world iTunes chart since the day of its release has received mixed reviews from fans - some stating that it's his best work yet, whilst others have said that his first album ‘Superstar’ was better.

Taking on a different approach to his new LP with some upbeat club bangers, including ‘In My Bed’, sounding somewhat European, Wizkid took his new song ‘In My Bed’ to the streets of Miami for the bright coloured video, and then later onto a yatch where he's surrounded by a group of beautiful women as he's living the good life on sea.

Wizzy is clearly enjoying the fruits of his labour, and is not planning on slowing down for anyone just yet, he'll embark on his UK tour this coming Friday, kicking off at London's IndigO2!

Watch the new video to ‘In My Bed’ below produced by Uhuru, and directed by Soto Jose.

[Video]: Chris Brown Freestyles to ScHoolboy Q's ‘Studio’

With his new album ‘X’ currently sitting tight at number 1 on the R&B/Soul iTunes chart, Chris Brown stopped by Power 106 FM in Los Angeles earlier this week during his promo runs.

As he chilled with J Cruz and Justin Credible, Breezy hopped on the mic and decided to spit some bars for them live on air. Freestyling over ScHoolboy Q's ‘Studio’ song featuring BJ The Chicago Kid, Chris Brown done a recommendable job and even sang the chorus of the song before he dropped his bars - which had the team over Power 106 FM hyped from start to finish.

Chris Brown's new album ‘X’ is currently out now on iTunes and in stores - be sure to cop that! Check out his freestyle below, and let me know your thoughts on it.

New Music: Mazi Chukz - Ifunanya

Mazi for the ladies teams up with super producer Maleek Berry for his new single ‘Ifunanya’, his first release under his new record label - Krystal City.

Mazi Chukz comes out of his comfort zone with this new single and gives us a different sound that we're not usually used to from him. The catchy and upbeat single is the follow-up to Mazi's ‘One In A Million’ released earlier this year and received support from the likes of BBC 1Xtra to name a few.

Recently he shared the stage with Tiwa Savage, Diamond and Davido at the 2014 Africa Unplugged which got a lot of people buzzing with interest and asking themselves "who is Mazi Chukz?" And of course had the ladies excited to see a new handsome face on the UK Afrobeats scene.

‘Ifunanya’ sees Mazi who just celebrated his birthday on Monday, sing in both Yoruba and Igbo with English, mixing the best of both worlds together for what is hoped to be his breakthrough single - which only time will tell, of course.

Check out Mazi's new single ‘Ifunanya’ below, was it something that you'd hope it would be? Let me know your thoughts.

[Guest Review]: Luzia Panda Reviews Wretch 32's New Single ‘6 Words’

November 16th see's the return of popular grime artist Wretch 32 with his new single ‘6 Words’. This is a snippet of what's to come from his upcoming new album, due early next year.

Personally, I love this song and wish it lasted longer. Wretch 32 is renowned for being one of the pioneers in Grime music. However, this single reveals a new side to the artist, although some may argue that from the days of ‘Blackout’ (ft Shakka) and ‘Doing Ok’ (ft Jacob Banks) the grime scene saw a change musically in Wretch 32, we had never heard him vocally.

When I first heard this song, I was very confused as to who was singing, because I know the song doesn't feature anyone. When I realised it was Wretch's voice I was shocked, although it may not be the best vocals I've heard, I like it; and I'm enjoying this new side to Wretch 32. I can't find any faults in this new single, apart from the fact that it ends as soon as the song reaches it's peak. Nonetheless, I love the song as it shows that artists can be diverse and dabble in other genres of music and explore unseen talents. This single explores Wretch in a more vocal light, while there is still some elements of grime in this song. What really made me take a liking to this single, is the fact that it's very diverse and can be played anywhere, for any crowd and it's fits in multiple genres.

Over the past year we've seen Wretch 32 branch out into different genres of music, and explore a variety of musical instruments, causing some of his more recent songs to fall into the category of a hybrid genre. Having said all of this, it doesn't mean that Wretch has forgotten his music background and where he started, he's been seen supporting the Mark Duggan movement, and Grime artists from Tottenham such as Avelino, Smila, Hurricane Hunt and much more. It's good to know that he's not just progressing with his own career, but is also making an effort to help upcoming artists.

Whether it's pure Grime, or a mix of genres, Wretch 32 always delivers on a track and I can only see good things in store for him, and his third studio album, ahhhh yeaaaa.

‘6 Words’ can pre-ordered off iTunes today here: http://po.st/6Words

New Music: X.O Senavoe - Oluwadele ft. Efya

Africa’s Rap King blesses us with a classic. With his long awaited and highly anticipated debut project, ‘XPoint0’, now merely days away, African rap superstar X.O Senavoe unveils his brand new single, ‘Oluwadele’, featuring award-winning soul songstress Efya.

Laced by ace producer Coptic, ‘Oluwadele’ is backed by lush horn arrangements, bass guitar and head-bopping drum patterns. The song blends X.O’s unique, entendre-filled story-telling and unparalleled metaphor-punchline combos with Efya’s beautiful melodies in the year’s most soaring hip-hop classic.

‘Oluwadele’, which translates to “God is home”, is X.O’s ode to his childhood as well as a statement to the fact that no matter how long you’re gone “home is always home”. And X.O is at his magical best delivering quotables upon quotables in his trademark fashion: “That’s foolish, Ashanti’s where they bred me, the prince of Zamunda, I came (Akeem) here with my semi (Semi), shooting Super Eagles and sonning Black Stars – Abedi Pele”. It’s hip-hop at its best. It’s Africa at its best. And it’s also – if reports are true - the last single after ‘Say It Again’ and ‘Beautiful’ to be released before ‘XPoint0’ comes upon us.

Often classed as one of the best rappers from Africa, if not the best, X.O Senavoe continues to show on this song exactly why he is among the most rated on the continent. With his seminal ‘XPoint0’ due to be released shortly, enjoy ‘Oluwadele’ featuring Efya to hold you over. Is ‘Xpoint0’ not the debut album? Wow … already.

2face Idibia & Wizkid Announced as 2014 Hennessy Artistry Headliners [+ BTS Campaign Video]

Another year, another amazing line-up for the Hennessy Artistry, and this time around - it's a duo.

This year Hennessy Artistry have announced a musical treat for fans that they promise to be one to remember. Teaming up for their first song ever on an incredible project is 2face Idibia and Wizkid. The announcement came earlier this week and has had social media platforms and blogs anticipated for the collaboration.

Since the Hennessy Artistry was announced in 2007, the likes of Tiwa Savage, Banky W, MI, D'Banj and legend Shina Peters have all headlined, and this year is looking like their biggest one yet. The best one yet? We'll have to wait and see, but my senses are telling me it's going to be a good one.

Speaking on the project, 2face said "Great things!! Eau di vie... We getting it this year!". Whilst Wizkid took to his Instagram account to share his excitement and joy to be finally working with the legend that is 2face saying: "This year's Hennessy Artistry is going to be massive and I am really privileged to be working with legend, 2face Idibia... I can't wait to get into the studio with him!!! Watch this space!"

It was smiles all round for 2face Idibia and Wizkid who seemed to have had a good time recording the song and shooting the official campaign photos at the photo shoot (footage seen below). Both looking dapper in their suits, we can only be patient and wait for what the duo have cooked up for us.

New Talent: Becky, Releases Debut EP ‘Control’ and It's A Good One!

2013 saw the release of Becky's single ‘Angel’ featuring L.A.X, and left people wondering if they'd hear more music from her - putting their worries and wonders to bed, Becky has revealed her latest project; her debut EP ‘Control’, and it is a commendable piece of work.

The vocal prowess kicked off September with four Afro-pop tracks on the project that sees a blend of the English and Yoruba language, with a hint of Nigerian pidgin.

Originally from Abuja - Nigeria, UK based Becky is a notable artist of many talents; from being a singer/songwriter to a guitarist and a dancer, Becky's body of work speaks for itself, and has already been punned as the "black JhenĂ© Aiko" by friends.

Not shying away from her ability to sing, Becky teams up with producers Studio Magic, Maffy and D Alfred to help bring her musical visions to life. Incorporating Afrobeats with Pop and her strong vocals, Becky successfully creates a full-length project of songs that have it's own vibe to it and will have one dancing from the opening track.

The EP may take a while to sink in as it has done for me, but I couldn't take away from the fact that Becky's first EP is a good one.

Take a listen below and let me know what your favourite track off ‘Control’ is!

New Music: Saeon - Dogado

Sexy mama Saeon Moruda has released her first official single under Baseline Music with her upbeat party anthem ‘Dogado’, a gift to her fans on her birthday last week.

Titled ‘Dogado’, Saeon rides on an exclusive beat produced by Sarz to deliver a melodious tune. Combining pop with strong vocals, Saeon encourages fans to ‘Dogado’... Move to the beat!

Saeon who got a great response for her single ‘Boogie Down’ featuring Wizkid, has been working hard in the studio putting the finishing touches to her EP ‘I Am Saeon - The EP’. Speaking on the self-titled project, Saeon said "‘I Am Saeon - The EP’ is in its final stages, and I can't wait to share it with music lovers and those who support Saeon music. There is going to be something for everyone in my EP".

‘I Am Saeon - The EP’ infuses elements of Afrobeats, Pop and R&B, showing off different sides of Saeon. She is also currently working with top producers such as Legendury Beats, Mosa and Spaxx to help bring her sound to the forefront.

Sian Gentle Drops ‘Lagos Party’ Video, Taken From ‘Let There Be Pop and There Was SPOP’ Mixtape

Sian Gentle is sprinkling SPOP all over the place until people get a hang of the word and add it to their vocabulary.

Creating her own genre of music "spoken pop & poetry", Sian Gentle has dropped the visuals to the third and final track ‘Lagos Party’ taken from her ‘Let There Be Pop and There Was SPOP’ mixtape.

Bringing together two cities – London and Lagos in the video to the cover/remix to Banky W's ‘Lagos Party’, Sian embraces the African food, culture, music in the fun and engaging video as she takes on London.

Sian Gentle's ‘Let There Be Pop and There Was SPOP’ mixtape will be out soon, until then here's something to tickle ya taste buds of what's to come.

[Tune After Tune!] PBGR's ‘The Black Market’ Album Is A Must Listen, Available for FREE Download

‘The Black Market’ takes the listener on a journey of brotherhood and relationships and allows outsiders to see the struggle from negative to humble beginnings during their 'come-up'.

Putting behind me the dislocated documentary screening which I was in attendance of a few weeks back (which I will NOT get into), I can't take away from the fact that PBGR have delivered with an astonishing body of work.

Their second project ‘The Black Market’ which has been marketed as a free album is one of their best works yet.

The London hailing duo - Swarve and Crunch who aren't new names to this blog, have been putting in work over a year and now have their final masterpiece available for free download and is a definite collectors item. Why they gave out such magnum opus for free? I don't know.

Swarve and Crunch bring a whole new sound and approach to the music scene, with their album being described as a representation of the 'new' London.

Already having being cosigned by UK heavyweights - Mr. Bigz and Ghetts, ‘The Black Market’ is in touch with reality, offering a relatable account of their version of events to listeners. The 15-track project sees PBGR rap about their actuality from relationships to brotherhood to money and social commentary on the 15-track-album.

Keeping things in-house from production to features, PBGR have a few worthy singles on the album including their stand out tracks ‘MindUrStep’, ‘SMW’ and ‘2MRW’.

They sample the likes of Kp & Envyi's ‘(Shawty) Swing My Way’ on ‘SMW’ and Teedra Moses ‘Backstroke’ and ‘Be Your Girl’ tracks on ‘Second Chance (Interlude)’ – which is a personal favourite track of mine. Not forgetting Pharrell's ‘Frontin'’ on their ‘Second Chance’ record, and that Mos Def sample on the ‘2MRW’ track. It's clear that these guys put thought into their album, even down to the opening of ‘Rearview Mirror’ with the short spoken from Ayo Wrote word that leaves you wanting more.

PBGR open the album with a strong number ‘March’ and close with a reminiscent track ‘Rearview Mirror’, but we can't overlook tracks like ‘Cross The Line’, ‘(soul)itude’, ‘Stockwood’ that show off their exceptional writing skills and lyrical ability, as well as previous fan favourites - ‘Well Wishers’ and ‘Gas Pedal’.

Insightfully written by the duo, and creatively delivered over an array of eclectic beats and sounds ‘The Black Martket’ is an album not to be overlooked, or swept under the rug. Stream ‘The Black Martket’ below courtesy of GrmDaily and download it for free here.

Wizkid Reveals Artwork, Tracklisting to Sophomore Album ‘Ayo (Joy)’

And the wait is over (almost). Wizkid has finally decided to unveil the artwork and tracklisting to his forthcoming sophomore project ‘Ayo’.

Following up from his debut release ‘Superstar’ back in 2011, Wizkid takes things cultural on the album cover, where he is seen in Yoruba traditional attire with three women dressed as Olori's (Princesses) as he champions his Yoruba ancestry.

Wiz took to his instagram page over the weekend to reveal what fans have been waiting for, for over 2 years now. In a recent interview the Starboy also revealed that this will be his last album under record label - EME, before he ventures out to releasing his projects under his own record label - Starboy.

‘Ayo’ the self-titled LP which simply means "joy", doesn't come with a release date as of yet, but has fans buzzing to know that it's coming soon. Femi Kuti, Seyi Shay, Akon, Banky W, Phyno, Tyga and Wale all make feature appearances on the new album, and the album will see production from Sarz, Shizzi, Uhuru, Spellz, Legendury Beatz, Del B, Dr Frabz and Maleek Berry.

With seven songs off the album already released, it'll be interesting to see what Wizkid has up his sleeve with the remaining 12.
